Welcome to CICALICS Workshop

November 25-26th, 2023 Sino-Danish Center,
University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Beijing

About

This year we would like to put more emphasis on the role of emerging technologies in addressing the sustainability challenges. In recent years, the nexus of emerging technologies and sustainability has emerged as a critical area. With the world facing pressing challenges related to climate change, sustainable social and economic development, the role of cutting-edge technologies in addressing these issues cannot be overstated. Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, renewable energy systems, and advanced materials hold immense promise in revolutionizing how we approach sustainability. These technologies offer the potential to enhance resource efficiency, reduce environmental impacts, and create innovative solutions for complex sustainability problems. Moreover, they enable data-driven insights and predictive capabilities that empower managers and policy makers to make informed choices for a more sustainable future. In the quest to achieve this, understanding the potential and limitations of emerging technologies in the context of sustainability is not only essential but also pivotal in shaping a more environmentally responsible and resilient world. Moreover, the role of IP management in this process is not to be underestimated and should be one of the focal points of the discussion. With this background in mind, CICALICS Workshop 2023 aims at discussing the current trends in emerging technologies and their role in sustainability as well as probing for their future both from the research and practice perspectives.
