After a nearly 5-year break due to the pandemic, we were elated to welcome Chinese students back to Denmark in June 2024! The atmosphere at AAU was filled with excitement and a touch of nervousness as the last visit took place so long ago, but it turned out to be a success. We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the cohort of 2023 next year!
Our Innovation Management programme, under the umbrella of the China-Denmark partnership, emphasizes the importance of balanced exposure. It’s vital for Danish students to gain first-hand experience in China, and equally crucial for Chinese students to experience Denmark.
For this long-awaited visit, we crafted a programme that balanced academic, applied, and socio-cultural elements:
Academic Components:
On-site introductions at AAU allowed Chinese students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the university where their SDC programme is anchored in Denmark. They explored AAU's unique Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model.
Thesis and innovation seminars and facilitated interactions with local students in Aalborg and CBS, fostered academic and cultural exchange.
Applied Components:
Visits to Grundfos and the Danish-Chinese Business Forum (DCBF) provided insights into the DNA of Danish companies, their business culture, and perspectives on business and innovation in Denmark, China and globally.
Socio-Cultural Components:
The programme included dedicated activities to introduce the group to Danish culture and society. To mention a few, these included meeting Danish student counselors, attending events at the Aalborg’s Student House, sightseeing, and enjoying local Danish cafes and restaurants.
Such visits significantly contribute to the students' overall experience at SDC, opening up new avenues for ideas and innovation, and preparing them for life in a globalized world. We are grateful to UCAS for their support with scholarships, making this enriching experience possible.
Student Impressions and Testimonials:
" What impressed me most was the large number of discussion rooms in the school, and many courses were conducted through group cooperation projects, which fully reflected Aalborg University's emphasis on project-driven learning […] Aalborg University provides systematic training and guidance for students interested in starting a business, and helps them contact industry resources." - Xinyue Bao.
"Through this visit, we have experienced the difference between the business environment in Denmark and China. The business model of European companies is more advocating 'small and beautiful', specializing in a certain field and pursuing high efficiency and low cost rather than market share." - Yinan Li.
“I am deeply impressed by Danes' sense of citizenship. They believe that protecting the environment is the duty of every citizen. They practice the concept of green circulation in all aspects.” - Shuyi Di.
This successful re-start of the CN2DK programme marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to foster international collaboration and understanding. Stay tuned for more updates!
